Our Curriculum

For the past year Emma and Lisa have been developing and writing Meadow Brook’s very own nursery curriculum. After years of following various approaches, most recently being an accredited Curiosity Approach setting, we concluded that one single approach does not fit all children and families that attend Meadow Brook. Above all our goal is to always remain inclusive to all! With that being said we are excited to share with you our unique curriculum.

Our curriculum is live and being rolled out across all rooms.

Below you will see lots of information which should help you understand our curriculum and the benefits for all children.

Our ethos

Children are at the heart of everything we do.

 Our Vision & Belief

We value children as individuals. We believe children can trust their own ideas and challenge their own thinking. We believe children should have ownership over their own bodies and emotions. We want children to value who they are and their place within the world. We believe our role is not to intervene but simply nurture their thoughts to believe in themselves and others.

 Our Promise To You

We provide a home from home environment where children can learn and develop in their own unique way.

Our Pedagogy

An effective pedagogy in early years education encompasses a variety of approaches intended to support the holistic development of children. We use a variety of evidence-based approaches that recognises the importance of nurturing cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth. A good pedagogy is vital when laying the foundations for children’s future learning.

Pedagogical approaches, such as play-based and child-centred allows for children to learn through play and ignite awe and wonder about the world around them. Children are recognised as unique, with individual interests, needs and learning styles. Practitioners guide and extend children’s learning and experiences through quality interactions ensuring all children thrive and reach Meadow Brook’s ARCHES!

Our Key Values

All children will grow the skills from our ARCHES. When children leave our nursery, they will have

Aspirations- children will leave Meadow Brook equipped with the ability to reach goals and be aspirational.

Resilient- children will leave Meadow Brook with the capability to tackle life adversities head on and have recognition of their own well-being.

Confident- children will leave Meadow Brook having the tools through nurture to be confident little people.

Happy- children will leave Meadow Brook happy and healthy ready for their next steps in early years and beyond.

Experiences- children will leave Meadow Brook with real life experiences: including growing our own food in our nursery allotment

Pathways

Emma and Lisa have created a document called the “Meadow Brook Pathways”. This document has been designed to support adults to have an awareness and understanding of milestones children could achieve in each room during their time at Meadow Brook. These pathways will also support transition between rooms and onto primary school.

By following these pathways, we will holistically support children’s learning and development and prepare them for the next stage of their Early Years.

Meadow Brook’s curriculum pathways have been carefully designed, incorporating the following areas from within the EYFS.

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

  • Communication and Language

  • Physical Development

  • Literacy

  • Maths

  • Understanding the World

  • Expressive Arts and Design

  • Promoting Voice and Inclusion

  • Self-Regulation

  • Building Resilience

These pathways are for guidance, learning is not a competition and children learn at different rates. Key people are encouraged to tailor each child’s learning to meet the child’s individual needs.

Our pathways aid us in assessing children’s learning and development through our ‘I Can’ assessments. Each pathway leads children on a journey in making strides towards Meadow Brook’s ARCHES.
