Summer news-letter 2018

Very warm welcome to our newest member of the Team -Alfie, born April 17th weighing 8lb, massive congratulations to Sarah and her family

At the beginning of June we say farewell to Nicola as she too will start her maternity leave, we cant wait to meet her new little baby.

As a setting we are under taking two new challenges which link together. We are currently undertaking training to become a curiosity approach setting which is a modern-day approach that fits perfectly in current changing technological times. Bringing curiosity, awe and wonder into early childhood & creating the 'thinkers & doers' of the future. We aim to empower and ignite passion and excitement in children. The aim is providing real and natural objects for the children explore, staff will be at local car boots looking for treasures! If you would like to know more then you can visit the website

The sort of treasures we have been hunting for are metal teapots, ceramic tea sets, hats, wooden jewellery boxes, old jewellery. If you have some of these treasures by all means bring them in

Secondly, we are trying to become eco-friendlier, we are now recycling in both rooms involving the children in these activities, clearing out our plastic toys and are making small changes like pvc aprons at lunch time, hand towels rather than paper towels, watch out for more environmentally friendly changes in the future

Requests from the Caterpillar team, please can you remember to bring in old spare clothes for your child. Getting messy is large part of development the sensory experience enables them to understand how things feel, smell and taste and it supports their physical development. Messy play fosters your child's curiosity, imagination and experimentation and practices good concentration.

Don’t forget to add to your at home section through your learning book, we love displaying this on our board and it’s a great talking point for your child

Also, can we remind you to put sun cream on your child before coming to Nursery

This term can be very busy in the Butterfly room. Transition visits to primary schools start on the 15th June, we have lots of different reception class teachers visiting as well, any questions just speak to a member of the team.

Can I ask that you do not bring in toys from home unless it is for something specific? Children struggle to understand that the toys belong to that child which leads to trouble sharing, broken toys and upset children.

Sports day is booked for Thursday 28th June at 10am-11am, all welcome!

Look out for your invitation to Graduation on Monday 23rd July

Thursday 5th July 6pm we will be

hosting an art sale followed by our AGM (this will be very quick I have been promised) Over the coming weeks your child will be creating their very own special piece of art work, which on the evening will be displayed in a frame and available to purchase – all funds raised will be used to provide new resources here at Meadow Brook.

Our annual trip this year is to Rendlesham forest

We are hoping you will join us to explore the forest, build dens and have sing song and picnic around our not lit campfire. We will have a gazebo at the forest during the trip with different outdoor activities to do as well.

The trip is Friday 20th July, coach will leave at 9.30am and return by 2.30pm. The cost will be £1.50 per person for coach travel, places on the coach are on a first come basis.
